In support of the Nuclear Sector Deal’s target to have 40% women in nuclear by 2030, Orano has signed NSSG’s Gender Commitment, pledging to advocate Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in all aspects of its UK business.

The commitment, based on the principle of establishing a balanced recruitment pipeline and sharing best practice within the sector to reach this industry-level target, aims to establish a “progressive, diverse and inclusive nuclear sector that inspires, attracts and retains people from all communities and backgrounds, and reflects the diversity of UK society”.

As an organisation working in the UK for over 40 years, Orano’s UK business has always been a committed supporter of diversity within its workforce, with 39% of its workforce in 2020 being female, and notable gender diversity also represented within its management and Executive teams.

Stephane Compere, Chief Executive Officer of Orano UK stated that ‘Orano is delighted to make a visible commitment to promote gender and all other aspects of diversity within its UK business and workforce. We consider diversity as an essential part of a vibrant and forward-thinking team, where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive and develop, and where a diversity of thought helps us to provide innovative and high-quality work to our clients.’

Upon signing the commitment, Orano has pledged to undertake an internal health-check in relation to the processes that have the most impact on promoting a diverse workforce, to ensure that its existing workforce diversity continues to be developed and sustained.
